Also known as juvenile diabetes, type1 or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone that regulates the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood. Without enough insulin, glucose builds up in the bloodstream, leading to high blood sugar levels.
